In a male-dominated industry, DJ Mak found her light through DJ’ing after she was discovered by Felix who reached out to her a year ago to build Dj’s in Zambia. She started DJ’ing at clubs, but as her career progresses on, she is now booked on playing mixes on radio, private gigs, corporate events, weddings, and birthday parties. From playing r&b and hip-hop, DJ Mak continues to spread her wings by extending the variety of music she can mix, and she now includes EDM, House, and Reggaeton on her playlist. DJ Mak believes that in order to fine-tune your DJ’ing abilities, you have to listen to a lot of music from different genres as this will expand the music library in your mind. Also, a DJ’s ability to finely mix musical tracks is purely instinctive and this quality is developed over time through failures and learning.
DJ Mak relies on her instinctive quality in mixing and matching musical tracks that can truly bop the house down.
She is a part of a group called Zambian female DJ’s rock which helps female DJ’s to show their craft in this male-dominated industry.
